Chartering a yacht for 30 guests in Dubai

A yacht for 30 guests in Dubai means the 85ft Gulf Royale, which is licensed for thirty-five and carries a four-hour minimum at AED 3,200 an hour — so the smallest booking is AED 12,800, or about AED 427 a head at thirty. Above thirty-five guests no charter yacht in Dubai is licensed to carry you and the answer becomes a private dhow.

The short version

  • Thirty guests means the 85ft. The 62ft is licensed for twenty-two, and the licence is not negotiable.
  • AED 3,200 an hour, four-hour minimum, AED 12,800 — about AED 427 each at thirty.
  • Thirty-five is the ceiling for a charter yacht in Dubai. Above it, a private dhow.
  • Boarding thirty people takes twenty-five minutes. Build it into the hours you book.
  • Five crew, including a host whose job is the guests rather than the boat.

Which yacht takes 30 guests in Dubai

One of them, on this fleet: the 85ft Gulf Royale, licensed for thirty-five. The 62ft Desert Wind carries twenty-two and the 55ft Marina Lyra sixteen, and those numbers are what the vessel is certified for rather than what it could physically hold.

That distinction matters more than any other on this page. A licensed passenger count is a legal limit enforced at the berth, and no operator on this coast can add eight people to a twenty-two-guest boat because the group grew. A charter that is over its number does not sail.

So the first thing to settle for a group of thirty is not the boat, the date or the budget. It is whether thirty is the real figure.

What it costs, and what the minimum does

AED 3,200 an hour with a four-hour minimum, so AED 12,800 is the smallest booking possible. Crew, fuel and marina fees are inside that; catering and drinks are not.

At thirty guests, AED 12,800 is about AED 427 each for four hours. That is the honest comparison figure, and it stands up well against a private room and a set menu anywhere in the city — with the difference that the venue moves and the view is the Palm.

The four-hour minimum is not padding. It is roughly what a thirty-person charter needs: twenty-five minutes to board, ten to twelve minutes out through the channel, an hour or so of coast, an anchor stop long enough to be worth stopping for, and the same journey back with thirty people to disembark at the end.

  • AED 12,800 — four hours, the smallest booking on the 85ft.
  • AED 19,200 — six hours, the length most thirty-guest charters actually want.
  • About AED 427 a head at four hours, AED 640 at six.
  • Crew, fuel, marina fees, soft drinks, water, ice and swim gear included.
  • Catering priced per head separately, and worth deciding at the enquiry.

Where thirty people actually go on the boat

This is the question that decides whether a large charter works, and it is not answered by the guest number. Thirty people in one space is a crowd; thirty people across four spaces is a party.

The 85ft has a flybridge, a main aft deck, a bow with sun pads and an air-conditioned saloon below. In practice a group of thirty distributes itself roughly ten, ten, five and five, and moves between them through the charter — which is why the boat feels larger at hour three than at hour one.

The saloon is the part people underrate. Four hours of unbroken sun with thirty guests needs somewhere to sit down out of it, and in July it is not optional.

Boarding, which is the part that runs late

Boarding thirty guests is a twenty-five minute operation, not a five minute one, and it is the single most common reason a large charter starts late. Twelve people arrive on time; thirty do not.

Two things fix it. Give the group one meeting point and one time that is thirty minutes before departure, not fifteen — the berth, not the marina. And put one person from your side at the gangway with the list, so the crew are carrying food and drink aboard rather than counting heads.

Getting there and where to park is in getting to Dubai Marina and parking, and for a group this size it is worth sending that link out with the invitation.

Feeding thirty people on a boat

Catering is arranged in advance and priced per head, and at thirty guests it stops being optional in the way it is on a smaller charter — you cannot improvise lunch for thirty out of a cool box.

The workable formats are a canapé service that runs through the charter, or a single sit-down at anchor. The second needs the boat to be stopped and needs about ninety minutes, which is a real claim on a four-hour booking. Most thirty-guest charters that include a proper meal end up at six hours for that reason.

Menus and what they cost are in yacht catering menus and costs.

Crew, and what five of them changes

The 85ft sails with five crew including a host whose entire job is looking after guests rather than running the boat. On a charter of thirty that is the difference between a captain shouting instructions and nobody noticing the boat is being handled at all.

Practically it means the anchor stop runs itself — ladder down, swim gear out, floats in the water, somebody watching the swimmers — while the food keeps moving on deck. It is the reason the 85ft feels like a venue and the smaller boats feel like boats.

Above thirty-five, and just below it

Thirty-five is the ceiling. Above it, no charter yacht in Dubai is licensed for the group and the honest answer is a private dhow, which is priced by the boat, carries a hundred or more, and is a different kind of evening — slower, flatter, and much easier to feed. That is set out in hiring a whole dhow in Dubai.

Just below it is worth a second look too. A group of twenty-two fits the 62ft at AED 1,400 an hour with a three-hour minimum — AED 4,200 against AED 12,800. If your thirty is really twenty-four with six maybes, the difference between confirming twenty-two and confirming thirty is roughly the price of the charter itself.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Which yacht in Dubai takes 30 guests?

The 85ft, licensed for thirty-five. The 62ft is licensed for twenty-two and cannot legally carry thirty, whatever the deck space suggests.

How much is a yacht for 30 people in Dubai?

AED 3,200 an hour with a four-hour minimum, so AED 12,800 for the shortest booking — about AED 427 a head. Crew, fuel and marina fees are included; catering is separate.

What is the maximum number of guests on a yacht in Dubai?

Thirty-five on a charter yacht. It is a licensed passenger limit rather than a comfort figure, and it is enforced at the berth. Above thirty-five the answer is a private dhow.

How long does it take to board 30 guests?

About twenty-five minutes. Give the group a meeting time thirty minutes before departure at the berth itself, and put one person from your side at the gangway with the list.

Is four hours long enough for a charter with 30 people?

It works for canapés and a swim. If you want a sit-down meal aboard, six hours is the realistic length — the meal alone takes about ninety minutes with the boat at anchor.

Can we add guests after booking?

Up to the licensed thirty-five, yes, with notice for catering and safety equipment. Beyond thirty-five, no — and that is a legal limit no operator in Dubai can move.
