Overnight yacht charters in Dubai

An overnight yacht charter in Dubai runs from about 6pm to 10am the following morning and starts at AED 14,000 on our 62ft boat, sleeping up to six in three cabins. The night is spent at anchor in sheltered water off the Palm or the World Islands, not under way.

Very few people in Dubai have slept offshore, and it is stranger and better than it sounds. The city is four kilometres away and completely silent. The boat swings on the anchor, the deck lights go off around midnight, and in the morning you are swimming before anyone onshore has had breakfast.

The shape of the night is always the same: board in the evening, run out while the light goes, anchor for dinner, and stay put. Crew sleep aboard and keep an anchor watch. Breakfast is served under way on the run home, so you are back at the berth by mid-morning.

This is not a floating hotel and we should be plain about that. Cabins are yacht cabins: comfortable, air-conditioned, and smaller than a hotel room. If what you want is a bed with a sea view, a room at a Palm hotel is better value. If what you want is to be at anchor with nobody around, this is the only way to do it.

What is included

  • Cabins made up with linen and towels, air conditioning throughout
  • Crew aboard overnight keeping an anchor watch
  • Dinner service at anchor and breakfast under way, by arrangement
  • Swim stop at first light before the run home
  • Generator power all night for air conditioning and charging

Worth knowing

  • Overnight charters need coastguard notification, so we ask for three days' notice minimum.
  • The anchorage is chosen on the day from the forecast. We will not sit out a rough night for the sake of a plan.
  • Guest numbers for sleeping are lower than daytime capacity: six on the 62ft, not twenty-two.

An overnight yacht charter is spent at anchor, not under way

This is the thing most people picture wrongly. An overnight charter is not a passage: the boat moves for about forty minutes in total, twenty out and twenty back, and spends the rest of the time anchored in one place with the engines off.

You board around six, run twenty minutes to a sheltered anchorage behind the Palm crescent or in the lee of the World Islands, and stay there. Dinner is served at anchor. The swimming — getting into flat black water four kilometres offshore with the deck lights on and the skyline in the distance — happens around ten and is the part every group ends up describing afterwards.

Deck lights go off around midnight. Crew sleep aboard and keep an anchor watch, because a boat swinging on its anchor has to be monitored. The generator runs continuously for air conditioning and charging, and it is audible below: that, more than anything, is why people either sleep well or do not.

Berths, not deck space

Daytime capacity and sleeping capacity are different numbers and the gap is large. A 62ft licensed for twenty-two guests by day sleeps six, in three cabins. An 85ft licensed for thirty-five sleeps eight, in four.

So an overnight for a group of twenty means fourteen people leaving by tender at some point in the evening, which is an arrangement rather than an afterthought. If the point is a party, a four-hour evening charter does it better at about a fifth of the cost. This booking suits a couple, a family, or a small group who genuinely want to be somewhere quiet.

Cabins are yacht cabins: comfortable, air-conditioned, made up with linen and towels, and smaller than a hotel room. Anyone expecting a floating suite should know that beforehand.

Weather, notice and the anchorage

An overnight is more weather-sensitive than a day charter because you cannot simply come home if conditions turn at two in the morning. The threshold is lower and the decision is made earlier, usually the afternoon before. Wind is the whole question: above about fifteen knots the outer anchorages roll, and a boat rolling gently at anchor is charming for twenty minutes and exhausting for eight hours.

Three days' notice is the minimum, because an overnight charter requires coastguard notification rather than because we prefer it. The anchorage itself is chosen on the morning from the forecast rather than fixed when you book — we will not sit out a rough night to honour a plan made a week earlier.

October to April is the season for this. A night at anchor in August is possible and is a different experience, with the generator and the air conditioning working hard throughout.

Options

Ways to do this

  • Evening to morning

    6pm to 10am · from AED 14,000

The standard overnight. Dinner at anchor, a night offshore, a swim at sunrise and breakfast on the way in.

  • Full twenty-four hours

Noon to noon · from AED 22,000

Adds a full afternoon of swimming before dinner and a lazy second morning. The one to book if the day is the point rather than the night.

  • Two nights offshore

    By arrangement

Possible on the 85ft with provisioning agreed in advance. We plan the anchorages around the forecast rather than fixing them beforehand.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Can you stay overnight on a yacht in Dubai?

Yes. Overnight charters anchor in sheltered water off the Palm or the World Islands with crew aboard keeping watch. The usual window is 6pm to 10am and prices start at AED 14,000 on a 62ft yacht sleeping six.

How much is an overnight yacht charter in Dubai?

From AED 14,000 for an evening-to-morning charter on the 62ft, and from AED 22,000 for a full twenty-four hours. Crew, fuel, generator power and berthing are included; catering is arranged separately.

Where does the yacht anchor overnight?

Behind the Palm Jumeirah crescent or in the lee of the World Islands, both sheltered anchorages about twenty minutes from Dubai Marina. The final choice is made on the day from the forecast.

How many people can sleep on the yacht?

Six on the 62ft across three cabins, and eight on the 85ft across four. Daytime capacity is much higher, but the number who can sleep aboard is set by the berths.

Is it like a hotel room?

No. Cabins are comfortable and air-conditioned but smaller than a hotel room, and the boat moves gently on the anchor all night. People book this for the anchorage and the silence rather than for the bed.
