Sunset cruises
Sunset cruise in Dubai
A private sunset cruise in Dubai costs from AED 1,500 for two hours on a boat carrying up to twelve, and leaves Dubai Marina about ninety minutes before sunset. You get the light on the way out, the sun going down behind the Palm, and the skyline lit on the run home.

The timing is the whole product. Leave too early and you are sitting offshore waiting; leave too late and you miss the twenty minutes before sunset when the light on the towers is worth the charter on its own. We set the departure from the actual sunset time for your date, which moves from about 17:35 in December to 19:15 in June.
The route runs out through the Marina channel, past Bluewaters and along the JBR shoreline, then turns towards the Palm so the sun sets on the seaward side of the boat. On the way back the towers come on, and the Marina channel at night is the single best-lit stretch of water in the city.
Two hours is right for this. It is the shortest charter we run, the cheapest, and the one we suggest for a first time on the water, an anniversary, or anyone who is not sure they want a whole afternoon at sea.

What is included
- Departure timed to the exact sunset for your date
- Route positioned so the sun sets on the open side of the boat
- Chilled water, soft drinks and ice
- Bluetooth sound system and shaded, then lit, deck seating
- The Marina channel at night on the way back in
Worth knowing
- Book weekend sunset slots two to three weeks ahead in winter. They go before anything else.
- Sunset moves through the year. We set your departure from the real time, not a fixed 18:00.
- In summer the sun sets late and hot; the last hour is more comfortable than the first.
Why a sunset cruise leaves at a different time each month
Sunset in Dubai ranges from about 17:35 in early December to about 19:15 in late June — an hour and forty minutes of drift. A sunset charter that leaves at a fixed time all year is timing a shift rota rather than the light.
The departure you want is roughly ninety minutes before actual sunset on your date, and that ninety minutes is not padding. Twelve of it is the Marina channel, another fifteen gets you past the breakwater and clear of the Bluewaters traffic, and the rest is reaching a position where the horizon is open and the boat can be turned to put the light where you want it.
That works out at about 16:05 in December, 17:00 in March and 17:45 in June. Check the sunset time for your actual date before you plan dinner around it: a December charter is alongside at 18:05, which is early for a restaurant anywhere in this city.
The light lasts less time than you think
Dubai sits at about twenty-five degrees north, so the sun drops at a steep angle and twilight is short. Civil twilight runs roughly twenty-five minutes after sunset here, against well over an hour in northern Europe, and people planning from habit consistently overestimate what they have.
In practice the usable window is about forty minutes wide in total, twenty either side of the moment itself. That narrowness is the whole argument for leaving early — a boat that departs an hour before sunset spends the good window still repositioning, and there is no second attempt.
The best few minutes are the ones after the sun has gone, when the towers behind you catch the last of it and the sky runs from orange into deep blue. Most people put their phones away two minutes too early.
Two hours or three
For a sunset specifically, two hours is the right length and a third hour adds less than people expect. The light window is fixed and narrow; buying an extra hour does not widen it.
What the third hour buys is a swim stop before the sun goes — anchoring in the flat water behind the Palm crescent at about four in the afternoon in March, swimming for forty minutes, then getting under way in time for the light. So the question is not how long you want to be out but whether you want to swim. If yes, three hours at AED 2,250. If no, two hours at AED 1,500 is the complete experience with nothing missing from it.

Questions people ask
How much is a sunset cruise in Dubai?
From AED 1,500 for a private two-hour charter carrying up to twelve people, including crew, fuel and marina fees. Split across a full boat that is AED 125 each. Shared sunset dhow sailings start around AED 129 per person.
What time does a Dubai sunset cruise leave?
About ninety minutes before the actual sunset, which moves from roughly 16:05 in December to 17:45 in June. We set your departure from the real sunset time for your date rather than a fixed slot.
What is the best month for a sunset cruise in Dubai?
October to April, when the air is clear, the sea is flat and the deck is comfortable. November and February are the two best months. Summer sunsets are later and hotter but the water is calmest.
Can we swim on a sunset cruise?
Not on the two-hour charter. There is no time to anchor properly. Book three hours and we go out early enough to swim in warm afternoon water, then reposition for the light.
Is a sunset cruise good for an anniversary or a proposal?
It is the most-booked charter for both. Two hours, timed light, and a crew who will stay out of the way. We arrange flowers, a cake or a photographer if you tell us what you are planning.
