The fleet

Four boats, and an honest view on which one you need.

Rates are per hour in dirhams and include crew, fuel and marina fees. Minimum charter length is set by the boat, not by the day of the week.

Choosing

Which of the four you actually want

The honest answer almost always comes from the headcount rather than the budget. Pick the smallest boat your group legally fits on, then spend what is left on hours rather than length.

Two to twelve guests
Azure Pearl, 48ft, AED 750 an hour with a two hour minimum. The cheapest real charter on this coast and the easiest first one.
Thirteen to sixteen
Marina Lyra, 55ft, AED 1,050 an hour, still a two hour minimum. The family boat: low swim platform, good shade, air-conditioned saloon.
Seventeen to twenty-two
Desert Wind, 62ft, AED 1,400 an hour with a three hour minimum. Birthdays, team days, and the fleet's overnight boat.
Twenty-three to thirty-five
Gulf Royale, 85ft, AED 3,200 an hour with a four hour minimum. A venue rather than a boat, with five crew and a galley.
More than thirty-five
No yacht in Dubai is licensed for you, whatever the length. Hire a whole dhow instead, from about AED 9,000 for two hours and up to a hundred guests with dinner.
Two people
Any of them, at the same price as a full boat. If it is a proposal or an anniversary that is worth it; for an ordinary evening a shared dhow cruise at AED 99 a head is far better value.

What the minimum really costs

The hourly rate is the number people compare and the minimum charter is the number that decides the bill. The 62ft is AED 1,400 an hour against the 55ft’s AED 1,050 — close enough to feel like a small step. But the minimums are three hours and two, so the smallest booking you can make is AED 4,200 against AED 2,100. That is a factor of two, not a difference of a few hundred dirhams.

The same applies at the top of the fleet. The 85ft is a little over double the 62ft’s hourly rate, and its four-hour minimum makes the smallest charter AED 12,800 against AED 4,200. When you compare boats, compare minimum charters.

What is the same on all four

Every rate includes the captain and crew, fuel for the agreed route, all marina and departure fees, chilled water, soft drinks and ice, swim equipment, life jackets in adult and children’s sizes, and a Bluetooth sound system. Nothing on that list appears again at the end.

Bringing your own food is free on every boat and most groups do it. Catering, decoration, a photographer and watersports alongside sit outside the rate, are agreed in writing beforehand, and are added to the balance rather than settled supplier by supplier.

All four berth in Dubai Marina, take about twelve minutes to clear the channel, and cruise at around ten knots. Charter time runs berth to berth on all of them.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How do I choose which yacht to charter in Dubai?

Start from the headcount, not the boat. Count everyone boarding including children, pick the smallest boat that fits, and spend the difference on an extra hour rather than on length. Most people book bigger than they need and use about a third of the deck.

What is the cheapest yacht to charter in Dubai?

The 48ft Azure Pearl at AED 750 an hour with a two-hour minimum, so AED 1,500 for the smallest real charter. It carries up to twelve guests, and crew, fuel and marina fees are inside that rate.

Why do bigger boats have longer minimum charters?

Because the fixed costs of a charter barely change with length. Crew call-out, fuelling, provisioning, cleaning down and moving the boat off its berth cost nearly the same for two hours as for four, and on an 85ft with five crew a two-hour booking would cost more to run than it earns.

Which yacht is cheapest per person?

Whichever one you fill. At full capacity the 85ft works out at AED 366 a head for four hours and the 62ft at AED 191 for three. The same 85ft with twenty aboard is AED 640 each, so a bigger boat is only cheaper per head when it is close to full.

What is the biggest yacht available to charter in Dubai?

Our largest is the 85ft Gulf Royale for up to thirty-five guests. Above that no yacht on this coast is licensed to carry you, because capacity comes from vessel certification rather than length. For more than thirty-five, a privately hired dhow takes up to a hundred.

Which boat is best for families with children?

The 55ft Marina Lyra. The deciding feature is a low, wide swim platform with a ladder a child can use unaided, plus good shade, an air-conditioned saloon and children's life jackets carried as standard.

Are the rates per person or per boat?

Per boat, per hour. Two people pay the same as twelve on the same yacht, which is why a private charter gets cheaper per head as the group grows and why a shared dhow cruise at AED 99 a head is better value below about ten guests.

Can you charter a yacht larger than 85ft in Dubai?

Yes, chartered in from partner fleets with about a week's notice and priced individually. Note that the licensed guest number does not keep rising with length — most 100ft and 35m boats are still certified for around thirty-five to fifty.
