Gulf Craft 62
Desert Wind
The right size for a birthday or a company day out. Enough deck space that twenty-two guests can spread out, and a saloon with proper air conditioning when the afternoon gets heavy.

What this boat has
- Large shaded saloon, seats the full guest list
- Jet ski and seabob available alongside
- Crew of three, including a dedicated host
Who we put on it
Birthdays, team days and anything between sixteen and twenty-two guests, where deck space matters more than length.
Most people book bigger than they need. If your group sits between two boats, message us: a two-minute conversation usually saves money.
Where everyone sits
The aft deck seats a dozen in shade and is where a party of twenty-two naturally gathers. It is wide enough that people can pass behind a seated row without asking anyone to move, which is the practical difference between this and the 48ft.
The saloon is the reason to book this boat in summer or for client hosting: properly air-conditioned, seats the full guest list, and quiet enough to hold a conversation while the boat is under way.
The flybridge takes eight or nine with the best view on board, and the bow carries sun pads for another four. Twenty-two guests spread across four distinct areas rather than filling one.
Three cabins below sleep six on an overnight charter — note that sleeping capacity is set by berths rather than the daytime licence, so twenty-two by day becomes six by night.
What it is right for
Birthdays and group days
Fifteen to twenty-two guests is where this boat earns its rate. At AED 4,200 for the three-hour minimum with twenty aboard that is AED 210 each — cheaper per head than the 48ft at full capacity, for considerably more space.
Company days and client hosting
The saloon is what makes this work: somewhere to sit down, out of the sun and the wind, where eight people can talk. A crew of three including a host means someone is free to look after guests rather than run the boat.
Overnight charters
Three cabins and a generator that runs all night make this the fleet's overnight boat, from about AED 14,000 for 6pm to 10am at anchor behind the Palm crescent.
What it is not right for
A group of eight, who will spend AED 4,200 on a three-hour minimum and use about a third of the boat — the 48ft does that day better for AED 2,250. It is also the wrong boat for getting close in along the Marina waterfront, where the smaller hull manoeuvres more easily.
A charter on the Desert Wind
Charter time runs berth to berth, so the clock below starts when the lines come off rather than when you arrive. Timings are for a three-hour booking and shift with the length you take.
- 15 minutes before
Boarding twenty-two guests takes longer than boarding twelve. Allow the full fifteen minutes, put one person from your group at the gangway, and let the crew carry the food and the cake aboard.
- 0:00
Lines off and out through the channel. With this many aboard people spread across four areas immediately: aft deck, bow, flybridge and saloon.
- 0:20
Clear of the breakwater and along JBR. In summer the saloon earns its keep from about here — air-conditioned and quiet enough to talk in while the boat is moving.
- 0:45
The Palm. Anchor down in the lee of the crescent, and with a group this size the swim stop wants a full hour rather than forty minutes: there is a queue for the ladder otherwise.
- 1:45
Food at anchor. A deck barbecue is cooked here on a four-hour booking, which is the shape that suits this boat best.
- 2:45
Under way for the run home along the coast, timed so the light is on the towers.
- 3:45
Through the lit channel and alongside. On a three-hour minimum the swim stop is shorter and the Palm is the turning point rather than a destination.
Desert Wind against the rest of the fleet
The 48ft Azure Pearl is half the hourly rate and right for twelve or fewer. The 85ft Gulf Royale is more than double this rate with a four-hour minimum — AED 12,800 against AED 4,200 for the smallest booking you can make — and only makes sense above about twenty-five guests or when the boat is meant to be the venue. For anything from fifteen to twenty-two, this is the boat.

Questions about the Desert Wind
How much does the Desert Wind cost to charter?
AED 1,400 per hour, with a 3 hour minimum: so AED 4,200 for the shortest charter. Crew, fuel and marina fees are inside that rate, and there is no separate booking fee.
How many guests can the Desert Wind carry?
Up to 22. That number comes from the vessel licence rather than from deck space, it includes children and infants, and a captain cannot exceed it. Give us your real headcount and we will move you up a size if it is close.
How big is the Desert Wind?
62 feet, built as a Gulf Craft 62, with 3 cabins and a crew of 3.
Can we swim from the Desert Wind?
Yes, on any charter of three hours or more. We anchor in sheltered water behind the Palm Jumeirah crescent or off the World Islands and put out the swim ladder, snorkels and floating mats. A 3 hour charter stays under way. There is not time to anchor properly.
What is included with the Desert Wind?
Captain and crew, fuel, all marina and departure fees, chilled water, soft drinks and ice, swim equipment, life jackets in adult and children's sizes, and a Bluetooth sound system. Catering and any extras are agreed in writing beforehand.
Still deciding? Ask about the Desert Wind and we will be straight with you.
If your group sits between two boats we will say so, and if a cheaper one does the job we will say that too. Leave a date, or message us. Most of this is faster on WhatsApp.
